Comrad RIS is a comprehensive Radiology Information System which enables the medical radiology department or practice to be completely computerised to the extent that the use of paper can be totally eliminated from the routine business worklfow. Comrad RIS forms the core product of Comrad Medical Systems. Combine Comrad RIS with other products offered by Comrad and the need for film is also eliminated.
Comrad Medical Systems has almost 20 years experience developing RIS resulting in Comrad RIS being used in 140+ locations throughout New Zealand and Australia. Our experience has exposed us to the diverse range of ways that radiology department’s function. The temptation is to try and make one size fit all however the Comrad product has been developed with diversity in mind. The result has been the development of our 2nd generation RIS system, based on the latest Internet Technology. It has the ability to be configured to operate in many different ways according to the needs of our customers. Hence, the Comrad application is just as much at home operating in:

The management of paper within radiology is becoming a significant overhead for every radiology site and with the move away from the use of film, the use of paper severely limits the efficiency gains that can be had by moving to PACS. To meet this need, document scanning has been integrated into the workflow of Comrad providing the following features:

The Comrad application is about putting the right information into the hands of those who use the system. The WebComrad module provides secure web based access to referrers allowing them to review their patient’s records. Features include:
----• Referrer centric view of a patient’s record via standard web
------browser software such as MS Internet Explorer
----• Entry of referrals for examinations which can be placed
------on a waitlist for appointment creation
----• Review of the status of their patient referrals, current
------appointments or appointment history
----• Real time status of a patient’s examination while they are
------attending the practice or department
----• Provides access to their patient’s reports including the
------radiologist’s voice dictation file
----• Access to patient data is restricted by the system to
------only those referrers a patient has nominated to receive
------a copy of the report.

Comrad supports a variety of interfaces, as a RIS system can no longer operate as an island. Interfaces Comrad supports are:
----• At the core of Comrad is a very powerful and flexible
------messaging engine that has been incorporated into the
------design of Comrad from its inception. This provides the ability
------to quickly configure HL7 standard compliant interfaces to
------other clinical information systems. ‘Out of the box’ interfaces
------to many clinical information systems are already supported.
----• Proprietary interfaces such as flat file transfers can be
------readily developed
----• Desktop integration with PACS systems is supported to
------allow radiology reporting to become integrated between
------PACS and RIS. Integration with Cedara and Intelerad
