COMRAD Newsletter May 2011

CEO Update

It's been a very busy and challenging period for COMRAD in the first part of the year.

We have had a lot on our plate with 7 new client installations to prepare for and manage, numerous COMRAD upgrades have been implemented with many more scheduled. We have a strong pipeline of customer projects in flight and the Development Team have been working on a range of new COMRAD features.

The Christchurch Earthquake in February certainly slowed our momentum somewhat but the good news is none of our staff were seriously injured, we have restored full business operations and our staff have demonstrated an impressive level of commitment to both COMRAD and you our customers.

While it will take a number of years to put the city back together again, life in most parts of Christchurch is getting back to normal.  The debates have begun on how the city will be put back together and it will be exciting to see what emerges as a new Christchurch Central City is created.

Hopefully we will end up with blend of the very new with some of our classic heritage buildings restored.  To give you a sense of the scale of the damage wrought by the earthquake and a glimpse of how it unfolded we have included some video clips and photos in this edition of the newsletter.

We are progressively catching up on our programme of work and again I thank you for your ongoing support and patience.

COMRAD Solution Feature

Radiologist Assigned Groups

Did you know that visits can be assigned to be reported by a 'Radiologist Group'?

This means that if a visit is assigned to this pre-defined specialist 'Radiologist Group', any radiologist in this group can report that visit. For example, your practice may like to create an 'MRI Neuro' or a 'Cardiac' group of sub-specialists.

Once assigned to the group, this visit will appear in the highlighted 'My Cases' folder for each of the radiologists in that group.  One of the notable features of the 'My Cases' folder is that this will become highlighted, even if the radiologist does not have their reporting list filtered to show that visit (site, modality etc).

COMRAD FAQs/Tips

PowerScribe:  Significantly improve your voice recognition (VR)

Taking only 15 seconds, the 'microphone input level wizard' can significantly improve your voice recognition.

During this short task, the wizard adjusts the level of the microphone input to optimum level, according to the volume of the speaker's voice and the level of background noise.

Do this every morning and afternoon, or whenever recognition decreases on a workstation.

For this task (and all VR):

- Hold microphone 3" (7.5cm) from mouth
- Ensure mic's spongy black portion is parallel to mouth
- Speak at normal voice level and pace

Run the wizard in the PowerScribe screen:

- Select Training / Microphone
- Click Start (Microphone Input Level wizard appears)
- Read the entire highlighted paragraph (with normal voice level and pace... don't
read faster or slower than normal!)
- Click Finish
