Film has been the back bone of the medical imaging industry since its inception. Today with the widespread use of digital imaging modalities, film is not used as widely as it was. However there are still many applications where film is used and the requirement to digitise this film continue: - Mammography examinations are still primarily based on film. Vidar has a specialised film digitiser built for this application – the CAD Pro Advantage. This digitiser allows prior film based mammography studies to be digitised for comparison to current digital studies. Importantly – these digitised studies are stored in DICOM MG format for "proper" presentation.
