About Us

COMRAD, formerly operating under the name of Software Innovations, was founded in 1987 by Andrew Scott to supply information systems for the medical market. Since then, COMRAD has evolved with a focus specifically on providing software products exclusively for the radiology market. In 2002, the name of Software Innovations was changed to COMRAD to bring the name of the company in line with its main product called COMRAD.

COMRAD grew steadily throughout the 1990’s but in 2005 a number of events came together to accelerate the growth of COMRAD. These included

  • Release of COMRAD 2, a significantly enhanced RIS product
  • Introduction of a major new shareholder – the Savage Group which provided financial stability and a wealth of business development experience
  • Establishment of a Board of Directors with an independent Chairman
  • Expansion of COMRAD sales into Australia

COMRAD’s growth in the last 2 years has been rapid with the product installed in over 340 practices in New Zealand and Australia including in some of the largest radiology service providers in the world.

COMRAD operates from offices located in Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand and from Melbourne in Australia. An office is soon to be opened in Sydney.

Company Management Structure and Governance

To meet the demands of a fast growing company COMRAD has invested in additional staff resources and in its executive team. In the last 12 months a number of senior managers and executives from the IT industry have joined the company. These include Paul Claridge as CEO, Sue McLean as Group Manager, Customer Services and Alison Trustrum-Rainey as Corporate services Manager. Each brings many years of leadership experience in large and successful IT companies (e.g. EDS, Unisys and ITouch).

Mark Bowman, who chairs the COMRAD Board, has an accomplished career in developing, growing and leading technology businesses in both domestic and international markets. In recent years Mark has provided successful definition and execution of growth strategies for different organizations, including Navman, HP and Hitachi Data Systems.
